Be The Girl

Image
This book is going to stay with me for a long long time. This is such an important book to read. I plan on buying a copy and having my 13 year old daughter read this, because it is everything. I'm am sitting here at my computer desk typing this out with tears in my eyes, still. I wanted it to be over, because it was just so hard to read, but i'm sad there wasn't like 100 more pages.   This is a story about a high school girl named Aria. The story starts with Aria and her mother moving in with Aria's great uncle. There are vague comments about why they have moved, but nothing definite. You can obviously tell something has happened in their life before this because Aria has changed her last name, and she refers to it as her "old" life. I'm not going to tell you what caused this move, because I was blown away when I found out. I thought I had it all figured out and I was so far off. Trust me when I say you want to go in blind and find out for yourself. ...

The Consequence of Falling

Several of the authors I follow on social media have been raving about this book. I used to be hesitant to start one that a lot of people have been talking about, because I would think "what is wrong with me, if I don't like it as much as everyone else did?" I've read so many books now that I've learned not to care. I'm never embarrassed about a book I love anymore. This one was as good as they say though, and I'm always happy to find a good read!  "I was tired of smiling. I was done pretending. It was my turn to live the life I wanted to live." I have read books by Claire before, and I have yet to be disappointed. She has a way of weaving a story and keeping you wrapped up in what is going on, so much so that you don't want to stop because your afraid of what you might miss. This was a great love story. I love a story where the characters are considered enemies at first, but they find out that they have loved each other for all this ...

Work In Progress

This book was a feel good book. It had a little bit of angst and a lot of romance! It was a nice change considering the last one was so heavy. I like to change it up, because sometimes a book really can just make you feel so much that you carry it with you for a while.  I’m a fan of Staci Hart. This is not the first book of hers I’ve read, and it won’t be the last. She is an excellent writer, and she has a way of pulling you in and keeping you hooked until the very end.  This story was about a blogger named Amelia. She is sent to a book signing for a pretty intimidating author, Thomas Bane. He knows who she is because she is one of the only bloggers that gives him 3 star ratings! Tommy has a bit of a reputation and in order to get on the good side of his editor he asks Amelia to marry him to clean up his image. She agrees and quickly realizes he is more than meets the eye. They fall in love hard and fast and it’s a cute fun read! “ If I’d ever passed Amelia Ha...

The Summer Remains

I wasn't on the hunt for a sad book when I went for this one. But this one was rough. Really rough. I had to stop halfway though because I was just so so sad. This is one of the books that just tears you up inside, and then your like "here everyone read this."  "You know, we all have scars, Summer. If yours are only on the outside, you should consider yourself lucky." This story is about Summer, she is facing a life threatening surgery at the end of the Summer. The odds are not good, but she is at a point in her life where she is trying to not be a burden to anyone in her life anymore. She tells her doctor that she has two wishes, she wants to spend the summer at the beach, and she wants to fall in love. Everyone kind of laughs and brushes her off, but she leaves the office determined. She downloads a dating app and after a few pretty cruel guys she matches up with Cooper. He ends up being a God send to her. He tries to help her see how beautiful she is t...

The Kiss Thief

I love when I get a random snow day at work it gives me so much time to knock out a book! Sometimes I'll pick a very highly rated book on Goodreads, just to see if it lives up to the hype. A lot of times I will think a book is fabulous, and it will be rated pretty low (in book standards), but that doesn't detour me from reading any book. In this case I did choose a pretty highly rated book to see if it lived up to the hype. I was not disappointed. This book was very very good.  "Falling in love was so tragic. No wonder it made people so sad." The Kiss Thief is about Francesca, or Frankie, she is the daughter of a mob boss in Chicago. She lives a very sheltered life. She is basically raised to believe the only thing a woman is good for is marrying into a good family, being a good wife, and sitting back and watching things from the sidelines. The story starts with her getting ready for a masquerade ball in town, she is supposed to be introduced to some suitors th...

Queen of Klutz

This was a far cry from the last two emotional books that I read. This was definitely more of a comedy book. I think most would categorize it under romantic comedy, but I didn't feel like there was a whole lot of romance. This is a bit of a change from what I normally read, and now I know why I usually stick with what I like...a good ol sobfest that causes me emotional turmoil. But this was a nice change!  "When life hands you lemons...Rub them all over my open wounds, and laugh?" It was the blurb that got me with this one. It was hysterical. Anytime the blurb tells you that the main character was dumped and found her boyfriend in bed with another MAN you know the book is going to be hilarious. Sibby was hilarious. She had no idea what she was doing in life, she was like a child in a woman's body, and she was pretty much just winging life. I liked Aiden, it was clear from the get go that he was into her, and the fact that he let her run around and pretend like...

Long Live the Beautiful Hearts

Image
If you follow my blog, this review is for the conclusion to the Beautiful Hearts duet. Bring Down the Stars was hands down one of the best books I've read in a long time, and the conclusion did not disappoint.  "There is sweetness in life. True love will find you and you will know no pain, only joy." This book starts off right where the first book ends. Please, please read the last review before you read this one! And PLEASE read these books. I promise you it is worth it. Autumn receives word that there was a death in Weston and Connors unit, and there have also been injuries. Naturally, she is heartbroken and assuming the worst. I'm not going to lie, I thought the last book was ending with Weston dying. I liked Connor's character, but I didn't like him with Autumn, and I did not want the two of them to end up together. Autumn and Weston were meant to be, it was obvious to me from the start. Thankfully, you find out neither of them were killed in ...
