I Hate You
I don't know. What do we have to lose?
I want you..even when I hate you.
Blaze Townsend: I hate you.
Charisma Rossi: I hate you more.
She's been expecting this ever since their latest showdown. She had good reason. Hottest guy she's ever seen. Former fling. Dumped her in front of all her friends. At her own party. So no, she's not about to forgive and forget just because he sits next to her in class. He thinks all he has to do is turn on those baby blues, and she'll melt right back into his arms. Please. She'd be crazy to let this cocky player affect her again. (Tell that to her body.)
Charisma Rossi. Brainy girl with a dash of bad. The one who got under his skin. The one he cut loose. Blaze knows she's the riskiest prospect at Waylon University, but none of the interchangeable girls he hooks up with have ever made him feel the way she did. There's absolutely no way he can have the girl and the game. So why can't he stop trying to win her back? Can this wide receiver score the girl or will he make the biggest fumble of his life?
Charisma was hands down one of my favorite female book characters. She was so spunky, and down to earth. Her issues with her body were so relateable. I liked how she stood up for herself, and for her feelings. She had a good upbringing, but was nervous about giving her heart away, I just found that really relateable. I liked how the author wrote about this woman who had a pretty great life, but was also afraid to let someone in.
He's everything. He's everything I never knew I wanted. He's perfection wrapped in a dark, deep lake, and I ache to swim in those waters, to discover his secrets and let him delve into mine.
Ohh Blaze...what a book boyfriend. He was so swoon worthy. He had a troubled past, but he was really trying to make something of himself. I liked how it was pretty obvious he was in love with Charm, even though he tried to fight it. While he had trouble expressing himself when it came to his feelings for her, he had no trouble making sure everyone else knew she was off limits. My absolute favorite thing about him was that when he and Charm got together he was completely loyal to her, there wasn't any cheating or wandering eyes, he was just a good guy. It's so refreshing to have a guy in a story just be geniune.
I put my hand to my chest, willing my heart to be okay, to slow down, but it doesn't. It hurts, actually twinges, and I stop an awkward laugh. So it's true- your heart really does break.
I loved that this book was low on the angst scale. I enjoy a good gut wrenching angsty book, but somethings it's so great to just read a good love story, and that's what this was. It made me feel good, and I was rooting for these two to find their way to each other. Their chemistry was off the charts. That scene at the masquerade party was HOT HOT HOT.
Most of the secondary characters were almost just as good as the two main characters. They added to the dynamic of the story, and helped progress the story line. Ilsa does such a good job with all her characters, makes you love them, gets you invested in their stories, it makes you want her to give them all their own stories. I'll cross my fingers.
I've been saying football is the one thing I can't live without, but it's a lie. She is. It's her.
Overall, I'm giving this one 4 STARS. I really enjoyed the storyline, it was nice to read a good love story, with just a tiny bit of angst. It wasn't overly dramatic, but it kept me wanting more. I've fallen in love with Isla's books, and I can't wait to read more!
