There Is No Light In Darkness

I have been reading so many Kindle books lately, it's been so long since I had an actual book in my hands. It was nice to get back to that. And this cover is beautiful, so I'm excited to have it on my shelf!

Here is the blurb that drew me in, aside from the cover this is what made me want to purchase the book.

"A past hidden in darkness.
Her present cloaked in secrets.

The future holds the only turth that cannot be escaped.

After the mysterious and violent death of her parents, Blake Brennan finds comfort with an unconventional family. As the dramatic loss of her parents continues to hant her--and hinders her from reciprocating love that others give freely--Blake embarks on a harrowing journey in search for the truth.

Living in a constant state of fear and need for control, vivid nightmares reveal details that lead to perilous situations. The past begins to collide with the present, and Blake must decide if the truth is worth losing the ones she loves.

Can love conquer all as her past comes to light?

Or will Blake realize there is no light in darkness?"

As I'm sure you have figured out I am a lover of all books. But I am a sucker for romance books with a little bit of a thriller thrown into the mix. There is nothing I love more that seeing people fall in love, but also trying to solve a mystery at the same time.

Blake has obviously been through some pretty traumatic situations, you can tell right from the start. She is skittish, afraid to let herself love people even when it's so obvious she does, and constantly looking over her shoulder everywhere she goes. Her whole life is one big mysetry, and every day while she's constantly afraid of something lurking in the darkness, she's trying to figure out who she is and where she came from.

I really enjoyed Cole. He was a solid book guy. He was very protective of Blake, it was very obvious to me that he was insanely in love with her, just as she was with him. I wasn't sure why they weren't together when it was so painfully obvious they were meant to be. The small glimpses into the past showed you their past and what happened to get them to where they were in present day. I understand why Blake tried to keep everyone at a safe distance, and I understand why she was hesitant to start something up with Cole, so I really liked that the author added in the past chapters, it made it easy to flow with the story.

I also enjoyed all the other characters in the story, and how they tied into Blake and Cole's lives. There were some moments when I was like.."Oh my goodness, didn't see that one coming." There were also some sad moments that I found myself asking why Blake had to endure so much pain?

There is a second book in this series, and I found that out the hard way. I usually pride myself in researching the books I read, but I really dropped the ball here. I was about 90% finished with the book when I started panicking. I realized there were WAY too many unanswered questions for this to be it, and also I was left with a very jaw dropping cliffhanger! The plus to all of this is, I'm late to the game reading this, so the sequel is out, and I will be purchasing it to find out what the heck happened!

This review is kind of vague, but I can't say too much about the book without giving some of plot away. The whole book is a mystery, you start to wonder how these people are connected, who knows what, and who can you really trust?

Overall I'm giving this book 4 STARS. I really enjoyed it. The romance was great, the creepiness factor was great. I found myself wanting to look over my shoulder when Blake was, because it felt like people were watching her everywhere. I can't wait to get the sequel because I need to know how everything is connected, and how it all turns out. I also have to find out what happens after that OMG cliffhanger. Pick this one up if you like a little bit thriller with your romance! It also helps that I absolutely adore Claire and her writing. This is not my first book of her's and it definitely will not be my last! She has a great writing style, and she knows how to suck you in to a story and keep you interested!
