Wait With Me

Okay, so Amy Daws is a new to me author, and I just happened to stumble upon her. You have to read her story about how this book was written, it is so fantastic. I couldn't wait to pick this book up after I found out the back story on it. Here is a little snippet from an article that Scarymommy.com wrote about her.

"Every mom needs to find her "happy place." You know, that place where you're actually able to shut out the rest of the world and focus on yourself. For some moms, that place is the spa. For others (ahem) it's Target. For writer Amy Daws, that place is Tires, Tires, Tires.

"One day, I took my car in for new tires at Tires, Tires, Tires and magically blasted out like 5,000 words in their fabulous waiting room," Daws writes on her website. "It was incredible. And the scenery wasn't bad either! Complimentary coffee that was actually delicious, comfortable seating, free cookies, friendly staff. I had found my mother ship."

"Tires, Tires, Tires even took their love of Daws a step further by publicly and proudly announcing she was their official "writer in residence." The photo shoot for the cover of the book even took place at Tires, Tires, Tires.

"When romance novelist Kate Smith suddenly gets writer's block as she's beginning the final installment of her international bestselling erotic Bed 'n Breakfast series, she'll do pretty much anything to get her groove back. Like sneak into a Tire Depot waiting room because her words flow there just like complimentary coffee- smooth, sweet, and scorchingly hot. She manages to fly under the radar until the rugged and charming mechanic, Miles Hudson, notices the quirky redhead slinking in and out of the employees only entrance. But she's way too intriguing to blow the whistle on. Doing a test-drive of her new book idea sounds like a much better option."

I loved this book. After I heard the story behind it I couldn't wait to get started. I was a little late to the game, but I still loved it. I loved the idea that this erotic novelist could only get her mojo in a tire shop. When she and Miles started hanging out I loved their chemistry and banter. Right away I could tell what the conflict might be in the story, and I was right, but I wasn't mad about it. This was still a cute and fun story to read!

"Book boyfriend," she repeats. "The leading male in a romance novel that readers claim ownership of because he doesn't likely exist in the real world. Basically, the ideal man."

I loved Miles. He was determine to be Kate's guinea pig, but he also wanted to pretend like he didn't want a relationship. I could tell he was full of it right away. He liked her so much, and he was just living in denial. He loved his family, and I loved the parts of the story when he was talking with them.

"I'm sorry, I get emotional when I'm hungry. You know how some people get hangry? Hungry and angry? I get emongry. Emotional and hungry. It's a thing. I got them to enter it in Urban Dictionary."

Kate, or Mercedes if your using her pen name, was fantastic. She was hilarious. Her life was such a mess, only getting inspiration in the tire shop, still living with her douche of an ex boyfriend, and oblivious that one of her best friends was in love with her. While I felt like she made some pretty stupid mistakes, I still enjoyed her character.

"Sex appeal wasn't created in a gym with weights and treadmills. No, it was born in the powerful, grungy garages where mean, real fucking men worked with their hands. Where they got so dirty, they had to use a special manly soap to clean themselves up. You can't find that shit at Bath & Body. Pure fucking testosterone."

The chemistry between these two was off.the.charts. I thought it was cute that they both thought they could do this whole "friends with benefits" thing, when they both were so clearly perfect for each other. I liked how the book focused on the two of them getting to know each other, and the drama was kept to a minimum. I could see the conflict coming, but I also knew it wouldn't be something they couldn't overcome. I loved these two, and I loved their relationship.

Overall, I'm giving this book 4.5 STARS. I really liked this one. I loved the humor, the banter between all of the characters, and the chemistry. I also loved the back story behind the actual story, I think that made it even better. I can't wait to read another book from Amy. She did not disappoint.

"How much more book worthy can it get than that?"
