The Locker Room
If someone were to ask me to make a list of my top 5 favorite authors, Meghan Quinn would definitely make that list. Her books always make me feel so good. They make me laugh, they have a little bit of heat, and I love the banter between the characters. Her newest release was no different, I was hooked right from the start.
I just adore the way Meghan writes. She knows how to get you hooked on a book right away, and it's almost impossible to put it down. Her writing style is genius, and the humor in her books is second to none. I always buy her books without even reading the blurbs, because I know their going to be that good. The Locker Room was fantastic! I loved the story line, and I loved the characters.
"Well, there's this guy who I seem to keep running into- pretty sure he wants to be the hero in the story- the secondary characters are the best friends a girl can ask for, even though they make her dress like a "panther," and the story arc seems to be in my favor so far."
I loved Emery. She has to be one of the best female characters I've read in a while. Her sassy sense of humor and wit was awesome. She always had a remark for something, and she wasn't ever shy about saying anything. She told it like it was, and I think she was given more respect for that. She had just came out of a bad breakup, but you couldn't tell with the way she handled herself. I understood her reservations about getting to close with Knox, and I appreciated that she was honest with him from the start. "Come on, Ealson. Say you'll come." I turn around and smile. "And here I thought you were the type of guy who'd tell me when I can come." I shrug as his jaw drops to the pavement. "Oh well. Catch you later, Gentry."
While I appreciate a bad boy in a book it was so refreshing to just read about a nice guy. There wasn't a catch, he didn't have any skeletons in his closet, he didn't have his eyes on a ton of other girls, he was just a genuinely nice guy. I loved that. I loved his cocky personality, and how he wasn't afraid to go after what he wanted, no matter how many times Emery turned him down.
"I don't want to be your friend. I want to be your boyfriend, your goddamn forever." His hands drive up my sides, holding my ribs, holding on to me tightly. "I want you forever, Em."
This book had such a slow slow burn. The sexual chemistry between these two was so intense, I thought my phone might melt right off into my hands. I thought I was going to lose my mind if these two didn't get together, I never knew an author could make making out sound so hot, but Meghan did it.
While I don't typically shed any tears in a Meghan Quinn book, this one did have me teary eyed. I wasn't expecting it to go where it went, and my heart was breaking for these two people that I just knew belonged together, and deserved all the happiness. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't your typical romance ending, and it was just another way for Meghan to knock a book out of the park.
Overall, this one is obviously getting 5 STARS. Meghan did it again, and I'm not surprised. This one will go down as one of my favorites from her, and that's saying a lot. I loved the characters, I appreciated the storyline, and anytime you can make me feel like I might die if the characters don't get it together is a win for me. Just mark this one off as a another hit from Meghan Quinn.
"Have you heard the rumor around campus about the locker room? If you haven't, let me enlighten you: Legend has it if you bring a girl into the sacred after-game domain of the baseball locker room, it will end with a walk down the aisle. One rowdy and naked encounter against the lockers with the girl of your dreams will make her your wife. Translation: baseball players are stupidly superstitious and believe the locker room has magical powers. But not all baseball players are superstitious, me included. So when the girl I've fallen for brushes me off, I start to question if I need to switch my way of thinking. Maybe it's time I finally hand out a coveted invitation to the locker room. The only question is, will she accept?"
